Affordable Housing
HOPE Makes Affordable Housing Solutions Available to Thousands of Deep South Families.
In a region that has the highest poverty rates in the county and a severe lack of quality affordable housing, HOPE is working to change the landscape.
Since 1994, HOPE has financed the development of affordable housing throughout the Deep South region, with a particular expertise in providing financing for smaller Low Income Housing Tax Credit developments.
- Between 2019 and 2023, HOPE has provided more than $124 million in debt capital to financie more than 2,500 affordable housing units.
- According to the National Low Income Housing Coalition, Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee have a combined shortage of more than 430,000 housing units that are affordable to extremely low-income individuals.
- Twenty-eight percent of homeowners and 51% of renters pay more than 30% of their income for housing expenses.
HOPE Federal Credit Union invites qualified attorneys to submit proposals for legal services supporting the closing of small‑dollar mortgage loans and deed restrictions for first‑time homebuyers in Yazoo City, MS.
