Protect Yourself Against Fraud with a Simple QR Code
With account takeover fraud on the rise, credit unions that are part of the Shared Branching system are adding a new ID-proofing security when accessing your account in person at non-HOPE locations. This new fraud prevention measure allows us to make certain it’s YOU trying to access your account, not an imposter.
If you conduct a transaction at at a Shared Branch facility, staff at those locations can now identify and authenticate members with out-of-state IDs in the branch through a QR code and one-time passcode multi-factor authentication verification.
Here’s how it works.
- Scan the QR code that will be located in the shared branching locations or visit coop.org.
- Select your the Hope Credit Union listing from the drop-down list.
- Enter your member number and the last four digits of your social security number.
- Upload a photo of your ID.
- Take a selfie.
This new security feature will be effective beginning May 1, 2025. We’ll be sharing more information about what you need to know as we get closer to that date.
