We want our members to feel welcome and to give them the opportunity to know more about how HOPE can help them with a full range of affordable, responsible products to meet their financial needs.  Our monthly open houses are one way to help people learn all they can about HOPE.

Stop by the branches to enjoy some free refreshments and see what HOPE can do for you!

Why keep financial services in Terry?

TerryMississippi-CommunityMeeting-2-3-14-IMG 0689
The first community meeting with HOPE in Terry.

Communities like Terry, Mississippi, deserve access to high quality, affordable financial services. In recent years, however, bank branches have closed in record numbers.

When banks leave communities, local residents do not suddenly stop needing financial tools to support their families, purchase and maintain homes, start and grow businesses and address other basic needs.  HOPE wants to make sure that no one falls into the debt traps that often result from using payday lenders, check cashers, pawn shops and other alternative lenders.

Hope Credit Union is working with residents of Terry, Mississippi, to ensure that the community continues to have access to affordable, responsible financial products and related services in the long term. A broad coalition of elected officials, community leaders, businesses, and concerned individuals have engaged the credit union to preserve local banking services in response to the closing of the town's only bank.

HOPE is working with area residents to address concerns about the impact of the bank closure on the local economy. Many are concerned that the lack of access to financial services will have a disproportionate impact on elderly residents, and that payday lenders, check cashing operators and other high-cost providers might seek to fill the void.

You can help bring HOPE to Terry. Here's how:

  • When at least 500 residents commit to join and use the credit union, HOPE will establish a branch in Terry.
  • To make your commitment, just complete a brief survey at the Ella Bess Austin Library or online.
  • Let us help. HOPE will be at the library to answer questions on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. through March 8.

So take control of your financial future and join HOPE today!

Read or print our flyer for more information about our work in the Terry community. Share hard copies or electronic versions with people who would support our efforts.

Hope Credit Union (HOPE) is working with residents of Utica and Edwards, Mississippi, to ensure that these Hinds County towns continue to have access to affordable, responsible financial products and related services in the long term. A broad coalition of elected officials, community leaders, businesses, and concerned individuals have engaged the credit union to preserve local banking services in response to the closing of the towns’ only banks.

Hope's Updated Utica Branch

BancorpSouth closed its doors at the end of August, 2012. Since that time, HOPE has worked with area residents to address concerns about the impact of the bank closings on the local economy. Many were concerned that the lack of access to financial services would have a disproportionate impact on elderly residents, and that payday lenders, check cashing operators and other high-cost providers might seek to fill the void.

Utica

HOPE has opened a new full-service branch at 106 East Main.  It is fully operational and currently serving members.  Credit union staff is reaching out to area organizations and participating in community events to learn more about the area and tailor its services to the needs of local families and businesses.
